Thanks for looking at my work.
Professional experience in:
I graduated from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in 2010 with a degree in Graphic Design + a Motion Concentration. After college I worked several years at the post-production shop VOLT Studios, where I wore the hat of Production Artist, Motion Graphics, Designer, and Production Assistant. Here we worked with many talented ad agencies on high end video projects for top notch brands like General Mills, Cadillac, and Subaru. I learned a lot about attentiveness to detail and professionalism.
In 2013 I was brought on in the Digital Department of Hubbard Broadcasting as a full time designer. Notable projects include: full identity system for the 2016 Cat Video Festival held at the St. Paul Saint's Stadium, rebranding of the unique entertainment-focused talk radio station myTalk107.1, and social media graphic development for national and local businesses with our Social Media Management team. It was rewarding collaborating so closely with business owners and Program Directors in the quickly adaptive climate of media. The last 5 months of this job was 100% remote.
In October 2016 I jetted off on a life goal trip around the world. This experience has positively influenced my design consciousness. Immersing in new cultures and ways of living has lead to sparking more creativity and further reinforcing the important role of good design on the human experience. I have also been able to work on several international design projects, which have been very rewarding. There's real value in connecting with another culture, and it is the future to have fluid cross-cultural communication. Visual design is a wonderful tool for this! The trip has taught me humility as well, and how much that plays into good design.
The greatest lesson I've learned about design is the importance of focusing on the "why?" rather than focusing on making sure my initial ideas are used. It is the toughest lesson to learn, to step apart from the time/emotion invested so far in order to keep looking at the project from birds eye view for the best objective solution. But, this has proven to be most important in the design process. There's always room to grow and learn, I hope to keep honing this skill and improving it.
